One of the vaginal yeast
infection symptoms includes abnormal sensations in the
vaginal region accompanied with a burning or itching
sensation. The itching
is not always constant but when present it is
extreme. The
burning sensation is painful during urination and sometimes
is also accompanied with a urinary tract infection.
It is felt when urine reaches
the outside due to the acidic solution coming into contact
with the irritated vulva located outside the vagina.
A uninary tract infection
causes a burning sensation as the urine passes through the
urinary tract on its way out.
Another yeast infection
symptom includes a slight redness located in the vaginal and
vulvar regions.
It can also be accompanied by
soreness and irritaion of these same areas, which causes
pain and discomfort during sexual
intercourse.
A discharge of thick
cottage cheese-like whitish or yellowish materials from the
vagina is another symptom.
Only about 20% of infected
women experience this dischage but in those that do, it has
a starchy odor resembling the smell of bread or
beer.
Sometimes it is
odorless.
Since the Candida yeast
can inhabit areas other than the vagina which are warm and
moist there are several other types of yeast
infections.
For example, if the fungus
inhabits the oral cavity or mouth, it is called oral
thrush.
It is characterized by white,
lacy patches forming on the palate, tongue, or elsewhere in
the oral cavity.
These patches sometimes appear
as red flat rashes resembling curdled
milk.
When Candida fungus appear
in the diaper areas and skin folds they appear as red flat
rashes with scalloped edges and are known as diaper
rash.
Satellite lesions of smaller
patches of rashes are usually also present and usually cause
itching and pain.
Male yeast infections
include symptoms such as red patch sores of the glans penis
and the foreskin and are not as common as other types of
yeast infections.
Even though there are
seveal different types of conditions caused by an increase
in the Candida yeast, the vaginal yeast infection is the
most common. There may
be several different vaginal yeast infection symptoms but
for the most part they are all similar in the fact that most
result when a person's immune system is
compromised.
