Thrush 

 

Thrush is a yeast infection which occurs commonly in the oral cavity or mouth and results when people take anti-inflammatory medicines, antibiotics, or birth control pills. They can also occur if a person wears inproperly fitting dentures or are smokers. Mothers can also get thrush from their babies through breastfeeding. This common yeast infection causes white creamy cuts which appear as slightly raised areas anywhere in the mouth. They are also symptomized with stinging if these cuts are scratched off of the oral cavity. Other symptoms include difficulty in swallowing and fever especially if the infection spreads to the throat. 

 

Diaper Rash 

 

A diaper rash yeast infection causes result when babies under the age of two years old and adults who wear diapers because of urine elimination problems develop an increase in the fungus which causes the infection.  Diaper rashes appear as bright red splotches on the skin and can also occur after taking antbiotics.  Again, the Candida yeast prefers moist damp areas where the diaper meets the skin.  These irritated areas of a daiaper rash can spread over the baby's bottom and genitalia and may extend to the folds of the skin. 

 

Nail Bed Infections 

 

Nail bed infections result when a yeast infection occurs on the skin beneath the nails in an area known as the nail bed.  They are very painful to the person afflicted and can make the area red and swollen.  It is not uncommon to people whose hands are exposed to water frequently or when a manicure has been improperly done.  The worst kind of nail infections can cause the fingernail to separate from the skin causing the nail bed to turn an ugly shade of yellow or white. 

 

Vaginal Yeast Infection 

 

The most frequent type of yeast infection which occurs in the female is the vaginal yeast infection.  This results from an increase in the number of Candida albicans yeast in the vagina and surrounding areas.  This increase may result in vaginal burning, itching, and a creamy whitish discharge.  Other yeast infection causes result when a woman has used antibiotics for another infection in the body or from taking steroids.  It can also be prompted by pregnancy, sperm, diabetes, or from taking birth control pills. 

 

One of the first symptoms of vaginal yeast infection causes is noticing a whitish cheesy discharge from the vagina that causes the area to itch and sometimes burn.  Having painful sexual intercourse or urination is another example of yeast infection causes.
